Big Bad Baby Blanket
About seven months after its completion, I have the Big Bad Baby Blanket (from the first Stitch n’ Bitch book) to show off. I made this blanket for my niece, as you can see, she adores it! I’m sure it’s her favorite baby blanket!

I should have taken a photo before I sent it off to Spain, but since I finished it just days before my youngest sister-in-law was returning to Madrid, I really didn’t have time. But here it is!
Recommitment
Jamii, Rose and I have recommitted to Lola. We promise to blog prolifically about all our new knitted exploits. We begin anew with Elena unwillingly modeling the hat Rose made from the Debbie Bliss baby knits book:

Baby(sister-in-law)’s First Hat
Here is my little sister-in-law’s very first hat!

Here the hat is being modeled by the always accomodating Baby Boy:

Here we see the hat modeled by Señor Mano:

I think that she did a knitastic job on the hat! She is currently working on another “Snicket” hat now.
And now, a picture of me: reading to Daughter the First, holding Daughter the Second, and rolling my yarn into a ball. Talk about multi-tasking!
It’s finished!!
Here is the completed twitterpated! I think it came out great, it was so easy to do, and really gorgeous I think.

Twitterpated
Here is the picture of the purse I started (see previous post). I have about double the amount pictured done so far. It’s lying on top of what will be the lining…and you can see the handle as well (2 for $6 at Michael’s).
Projects
Currently I have two projects in progress. I am still working on the Big Bad Baby Blanket. It is going extremely well lately (hope I didn’t just jinx myself). I take a break from it to work on other projects when I need to, and I don’t work on it when I’m tired. That seems to be the secret to my success.
My current “fun” project is this purse. I am doing it in white. On Friday I purchased a black handle and adorable flower print fabric to use as lining. It’s a really great pattern (I love the Zephyr girls blogs and patterns). Such a simple bag - all garter stitch - but I think the finished project is great and I love the ruffle on it.
I will be posting pictures later. Currently it is 5:40 a.m. Baby kept me up three nights in a row!
FO!
Okay now, how cute is this?

The “Smurf” Hat
This is my latest foray into hat making, the silly little tail at the top. Dave has labeled this Nora’s “Smurf hat.” I think it’s cute. He kinda thinks it’s silly. I made a much smaller version along with one of my striped beanies as a baby gift for our daycare person (her baby is due in August). I didn’t take pictures, but in my opinion, it’s even cuter when it’s tiny!
Peace, love, and a shoulder bag.
This bag is from Knitting Pretty. I like that book a lot, the patterns are easy (this one is listed as a difficulty of 4 and it has been so simple) and cute. It is hard to see in the photo, but the bag has a nice pattern to it because you knit 7 rows, p1row, k1row, p1row, repeat.
The bag is a lot smaller than I expected it to be from the photo in the book. But, I am making this as a gift with the thought that it would be a nice bag to use just for going out: pack your wallet, your lipstick, and you’re all set. I like the pattern so much I am going to attempt to make it into a larger size bag as well.
The strap is done separately on circular needles, so I’ll post again when I have more progress.
Storm Lake Knit Along
Last week, I finally had a free Saturday and attended the knitting circle in Storm Lake. It was the oddest mix of people from a 78-year-old grandma to a high school girl and every age in between. There are women there who have been knitting their whole lives and others, like me, who are quite novice. The older lady who sat next to me was so great. They all bring their projects and patterns to share. Of course, they all made fun of me for how I hold the needles and the way I look so awkward when I knit, but I didn’t care. I belonged! It’s called a “knit along.” How sweet is that! They meet every other Saturday for two hours in the morning at a room in the public library. I’m so going back!
